sex terminology

HAHAHAHA I love this book that, instead of AMAB and AFAB, uses the terms "spermite" and "eggite"

@garfiald wow hate it! guess folks who dont make eggs or sperm just dont exist 🤪

sex terminology

@bee clearly written by someone who knows a lot about biology :thinkhappy:

sex terminology

@garfiald well they thought up these really cool new scientific terms so they must be a genius

re: sex terminology

@garfiald @bee wait you mean this is bad and not good? (seriously i actually thought this was a good choice from the books' authors but i guess that's just ignorant cis me being ignorant and cis ._. (this is also serious and non-sarcastic))

re: sex terminology

@sobsz No, it is not good. For one thing, loads of cis people with typical sexual characteristics do not produce sperm or ovaries (for instance... people who... have had their menopause...). In addition, intersex people make up 1% of the population (thats the same proportion as redheads!).

re: sex terminology

@sobsz The choice of terminology can be more thoroughly critiqued within the specific context of the book, but the important thing is that human reproductive organs come in more than two shapes
